The Health Unit has been receiving a number of calls and emails about fall COVID-19 boosters and Influenza vaccinations. Information to clarify what is available and where to get seasonal immunizations has been updated on the Health Unit website at: Immunization – Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit

This information will be updated once more details are received from the ministry of Health. The Health Unit will use all available ways to make sure that the public know how and when to get their immunizations.

Influenza (Flu Shots)

As in previous years, Influenza vaccine will be available at your local pharmacy or health care provider in late October/early November.

More information about Influenza and how you can protect yourself is found here: https://healthunit.org/health-information/infectious-diseases/influenza/

COVID 19 vaccines (and Fall Boosters)

The Health Unit has changed its approach to providing COVID-19 vaccine. We no longer have the capacity to run large community clinics. Instead, we will provide COVID vaccines to priority groups who may not be able to get immunized elsewhere. We will have appointments available at our Health Unit clinics for children under 12 and those over 12 who are unable to receive an mRNA vaccine. We are directing all others to go to their primary care provider or local pharmacy.

Our clinics provide other vaccinations for adults and children including school catch up vaccinations.

You can call your local pharmacy to see when they are receiving vaccine for the fall.

If you or your child needs initial COVID-19 vaccine doses (not booster doses), please call the Health Unit to discuss options at 1 800 660 5853.

There will be a new version of the COVID vaccine made available in the coming months at pharmacies and primary care providers. As with any new version of the COVID vaccine, it will be distributed to the highest risk groups first, including Long Term Care residents and others with similar health challenges to protect those most vulnerable.
