Perhaps you know the Friends of the Ferguson Forest Centre through one of their educational walks to explore the mushrooms, birds or medicinal herbs of Ferguson Forest. Or maybe you have attended their ever-popular Birds of Prey show!

Friends of the Ferguson Forest Centre (the Friends) is currently seeking to fill three Board vacancies.

Governed by a volunteer Board of directors which sets policy and direction, the Friends’ central mission is to help preserve, protect, maintain, and enhance the Ferguson Forest trails and other public-use recreational areas of the Ferguson Forest Centre (FFC) in partnership with the Ferguson Forest Centre Corporation, for the educational benefit and enjoyment of the public. The Friends strive to work with the Corporation to identify places and projects where their efforts can most benefit FFC’s public spaces. Through grants, volunteer mobilization, private philanthropy, programs and advocacy, the Friends’ goal is to:

  •   protect FFC’s public lands and natural resources
  •   engage today’s youth in forest stewardship, nature, and the outdoors
  •   ensure a high-quality visitor experience at FFC
  •   preserve and maintain FFC’s beloved public trails

While skills or expertise in social media, natural sciences, education, administration, volunteer engagement and public relations would be beneficial, the only requirements are alignment with the Friends’ mission, appreciation for FFC’s recreational spaces, and a desire to help the Friends grow and flourish in their role as a Friends organization.

For further information, and to register your interest in becoming a Board member, please contact the Friends of the Ferguson Forest Centre by January 28 via email at: fergusonforestfriends@gmail.com . You will have the opportunity to chat with us to address any questions you might have, and you will be invited to the AGM taking place by Zoom conference at 6.30pm on Wednesday, February 15, during which the Members present will nominate and vote in new Board members.
