January is traditionally the heaviest planning month for the Old Town Kemptville BIA and this year is no exception. Between creating a yearly strategic plan for what the BIA wants to accomplish, to planning dates and times for all of the BIA’s events and activities, January is an active month for our volunteer board and committees.

Speaking of events and activities, here are the dates for this year’s slate of events:

Easter Bunny Hop – Saturday, March 23
Kemptville Buskerfest – Saturday, May 18
Volunteer Appreciation Night – Tuesday, June 18
Not Just Ladies Night – Friday, August 16
Kreepy Kemptville – Saturday, October 26
Annual General Meeting – Wednesday, November 20
Christmas Tree Lighting – Monday, December 2
Old Town Christmas – Saturday, December 14

The first event of the year is the Easter Bunny Hop on Saturday, March 23. Always a hit with families, this event promises to be a little different this year with some rumours spreading about a possible kids’ dance party with the Easter Bunny at Rotary Park. Stay tuned for more details. We’ll also be having our special Easter scavenger hunt in the downtown which we have become famous for. Don’t worry, adults and parents, everyone in the family can participate in the scavenger hunt!

As mentioned above, the Kemptville Buskerfest will be happening on Saturday, May 18 this year and the organizing committee is already hard at work to bring you the best Buskerfest ever. As you can imagine, the amount of time and energy that goes into pulling together this community showcase event is considerable. The Committee is always looking for civic-minded people to volunteer, businesses to sponsor and local performers who’d like to be part of the Kemptville’s Got Talent competition. If you’re curious about getting involved, visit the Buskerfest website www.kemptvillebuskerfest.ca, or email us at bia@northgrenville.on.ca. The more the merrier. And we definitely have the best snacks at our meetings!

Speaking of websites, at the Old Town Kemptville BIA Annual General Meeting at the end of last year, the BIA revealed the secret project that they have been quietly working on. The secret project was revealed to be a new standalone website for the BIA. A website has been on the BIA’s wishlist for quite some time and it’s now become a reality. The website can be found at www.downtownkemptville.ca. Go check it out!
