The Kemptville Youth Centre (KYC) hosted its annual Book Fair at the Ferguson Forest Centre from August 20 to 22. President of the KYC Board, Bruce Wehlau, says this year’s event “reported record book sales and over 2,500 attendees.”

As the single largest fundraising event for the KYC, Bruce was happy to report that the Book Fair raised over $15,000 to support programming and services offered to Kemptville area youth through the KYC. He said, “KYC achieved its budget, thanks to the community and the volunteers who made it a success.”

A new addition to the Book Fair this year was a youth writing contest, sponsored by Egg Farmers of Ontario. Youth submitted stories in two age group categories, 10-13 and 14-18, to be judged for cash prizes. Our own Maggie Boyer, Brian Arleth of the KYC, and Nadia Diakun-Thibault of Kemptville Rotary Club are currently judging the submissions. Results of the contest will be announced mid-September.
