The Hey Day 50/50 draw is going virtual this year to support the Kemptville District Hospital Auxiliary’s (KDHA) continued fundraising efforts.

In previous years, the appearance of KDHA volunteers at local grocery stores marked the lead up to Hey Day, their largest fundraiser of the year. For 60 years, the Hey Day event fostered a lot of excitement in the community, drawing many people from across the region looking for a great deal and a way to support their local hospital.

While Hey Day has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to COVID-19, the Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) still needs the community’s support to provide the excellent care that residents of North Grenville and beyond have come to expect. KDH does not receive any ongoing government funding for equipment, and relies heavily on the KDHA fundraising efforts to keep equipment up to date.

“By participating in the KDHA 50/50 event, you will be contributing to the purchase of essential hospital equipment used to enhance the patient experience,” says KDHA member and Hey Day organizer Jolene Stover. “This new, safe online initiative will support our mission to raise funds that we donate to the hospital.”

There is no limit to how large the take-home prize can get as it depends entirely on how many tickets are sold. Monthly draws will be held until December, 2021 and anyone in Ontario can purchase tickets! For the first event, to get in for the early bird draw, tickets must be purchased by June 28 for a chance to win $500. There will also be a $500 Bonus draw on July 14. Grand prize tickets must be purchased by Monday, July 26 and the lucky winner will be announced at noon on July 27.

“This is a win-win for our families, friends and neighbours when you buy a ticket today,” Jolene says. “Your support can make a difference in our hospital. It’s up to each of us. Purchase tickets today and share with everyone you know!”
