The Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) is seeking input from residents of rural communities in Ontario, individuals, business, community organizations, institutions, indigenous communities, and municipal governments, through an on-line survey. The ROMA Board is in the process of developing a discussion paper examining opportunities for rural Ontario in a post-COVID world. It will summarize the issues and opportunities for rural Ontario, and be the foundation for identifying priorities and actions for ROMA’s advocacy. The survey contains 10 questions, asking respondents to choose the top three challenges faced by, variously, residents, businesses, and municipalities in Ontario.
With regard to municipalities, the survey asks about the top three operational challenges facing rural municipalities, and the challenges to community development. On a more positive note, the survey asks for peoples’ opinions on the top three biggest opportunities for rural Ontario, or, as the survey puts it:
