Oxford Mills was lit up on Friday Dec 6 as the hamlet inaugurated the Christmas season. The Sisterhood of Guiding got things going by caroling in front of the Old Town Hall. This was followed by special guest Don Munz throwing the switch to light the Christmas tree. Revelers where led into the Maplewood Hall by Santa, who chatted and posed with children and adults alike. Refreshments were provided by members of the Oxford Mills Community Association and the deVette family. The gathering gave a growing and vibrant community the opportunity to come together and socialize.

The following morning the Community Association hosted a Pancake Breakfast which saw a steady stream of villagers and visitors enjoy pancakes and syrup donated by the Hunt and Seguin families, and sausage gracefully donated by Dial a Chef.

Each year the Oxford Mills Community Association takes it upon itself to decorate the bridges with seasonal planter boxes and Christmas lights. As well, a decorated tree is placed by the dam which is a comforting sight at night. Now that there is electricity to the gazebo, it too was festooned with lights. Thanks to all who made the weekend an enjoyable event and Season’s Greetings from the folks at the OMCA.
