The House of Lazarus (HOL) Food Bank received $5,170 from 100 Men Who Care North Grenville. Group representatives Chris Cathcart and Graeme Allan visited the Mountain-based facility Wednesday, August 29 to deliver the donation.

“We are grateful to the many North Grenville men who contributed to make this donation possible,” HOL executive director Cathy Ashby said. “Without the generosity of our surrounding communities, we wouldn’t be able to do the many things we do.”

The money is earmarked for HOL’s Handyman Heroes project, whereby materials are purchased to help improve the living environment of families in need. While HOL provides materials, it is through the generosity of contractors who donate their time to make these improvements that the program is possible. Any local contractors interested in getting involved should contact Ashby directly by email (cashby@houseoflazarus.com) or phone (613-989-3830).

“Our Handyman Heroes project was born when members of the community came forward to volunteer their time and services,” Cashby said. “At this point, we’ve had a contractor go into the home of a single mom to help improve the family’s living conditions, as well as a mechanic who has done free labour to make another at-risk family’s transportation safe again.”
