It has been a difficult six months for our community, our province, our country and beyond our borders. We hope that you and your neighbours are well. Last March we closed the NGHS Archives in keeping with government guidelines to limit the spread of Covid-19.

We had aspired to re-open this Fall but with the increased rates of illness, we have decided that it would be more prudent to remain closed to the public. Tuesday public visiting hours and monthly public meetings will not be held until further notice. We will continue to assess the situation as it unfolds.

Virtual AGM on October 28, 2020:

Due to CRA requirements, we have no choice but to proceed with a virtual offering. We have hesitated to hold this meeting by phone, because we know it may be difficult for some of our members to handle the technology, we are however, required by the Ontario Historical Society, our parent body, and the Canadian Revenue Agency to hold an AGM before the end of the year. Because we are not permitted to hold the meeting in the Court House due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will be holding it virtually; that is, as a conference call. Members who wish to participate in the meeting will be able to call in before the start time and listen in on the proceedings as they unfold.

A minimum of 15 participants (quorum) will be required to make the outcome of the meeting valid. We would appreciate hearing from you in advance if you plan to attend to get some idea of how many members to expect.

The business to be transacted at this meeting includes the following: to receive the audited financial reports, statements and budget, to receive the reports of the Society’s officers and committees and to take appropriate action upon them; to appoint an auditor for the ensuing year; and to elect directors.

To be eligible to vote at the AGM, members must have paid their dues for 2020. You may ensure you are in good standing before the meeting by one of the following means:

  • fill out a membership form on our website, www.northgrenvillehistoricalsociety.ca,
  • write including a cheque to NGHS, Box 1239, Kemptville ON K0G 1J0, or call 613 258 4401 for further options.

We look forward to hearing from you and hearing your voice on 28 October.
Details to come on our website: www.northgrenvillehistoricalsociety.ca.
