Chief Superintendent Chris Harkins, Regional Commander for the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region, is pleased to announce that effective December 1, 2016, Inspector June Dobson will be assuming the Detachment Commander role for Grenville County OPP as Inspector Bill Bolton has retired after a dedicated 30 years of policing.
Inspector Dobson has been a member of the Ontario Provincial Police for the past 28 years and in this time she has worked in general policing and in the Criminal Investigation Branch on major cases. She has been seconded as an Instructor at Ontario Police College, transferred to Crime Prevention Section and managed several Detachment Manager Positions throughout the Western Region. Inspector Dobson was also the Deputy Director for the Operational Policy and Strategic Planning Bureau.
Inspector Dobson has been in the East Region for over 3 years where she was the Detachment Commander at Leeds and Russell County Detachments.
Inspector Dobson has a Bachelor of Education from the University of New Brunswick, a certificate in Police Administration from McMaster University and has completed a Masters Degree in Education from Central Michigan University.
Inspector Dobson has been awarded two “Commissioners Citations” for her investigative skills, a “Team-Building” award from the Ministry of Attorney General for her work with Domestic Violence. She has received the Ontario Women in Law Enforcement “Excellence in Performance” and “Professional of the Year” awards, including the International Award for “Excellence in Performance” from the International Association of Women in Police. She has also received the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services “Ovation” award for “Valuing and Supporting Others”.
