Brett Cody (BC) has made it home safely after more than ten days of running at large. On June 6, 2021, the Grenville County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted by the owner of Saunders Country Critters Zoo and Sanctuary, located on County Road 44, in the Municipality of North Grenville.
The owner reported a mischief after one animal was found outside of its pen on the morning of June 5. A more thorough search on June 6 found that “Brett Cody” (BC), a four-year-old adult male bobcat, was missing entirely.
On June 16, at approximately 12:30 pm, a member of the public reported spotting the bobcat in a bushed-area, in the Village of South Mountain. Employees from the zoo attended the area shortly after the call but were unable to locate him. Based on information provided by the finder, the spotting appeared to be legitimate, and live traps were set up in the area. A short time later, BC was caught and has since been returned to his home. He is reported to be in good health.
The OPP are continuing to investigate the incident as a mischief as it is believed the animals were intentionally let out of their pens. The OPP is asking anyone with information to notify Grenville County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
