Linking Hands EXPO and Family Fun Day

Linking Hands EXPO provides free fun for March Break
CHESTERVILLE — It’s fun, it’s free, and it’s just in time for March Break.

This year’s Linking Hands EXPO and Family Fun Day is free to attend. It’s set for Wednesday, March 13th from 10 am to 3 pm at North Dundas District High School, which is located at 12835 County Road 43.

As always, this year’s activities include bouncy castles from TriBeck Inflatables. Making regular appearances throughout the five-hour event will be two members of Paw Patrol. There will be games, prizes, crafts, ride-on toys for little ones, face painting, and more provided by a team of local agencies, including Glengarry Inter-Agency Group’s EarlyON and Dundas Youth Centre, Happy Face Nursery School, House of Lazarus, SDG Library, Southgate Church, and Timothy Chris- tian School.

In addition to the all-day fun, there will be a performance by Sing Song Party Time at 12:30 p.m. and Story Time with SDG Library at 2:30 p.m. Popcorn and cotton candy will be available for purchase. The Dundas Youth Centre will be hosting a canteen with lunch and snacks for purchase, beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 12:15 p.m.

Although the event has a definite focus on fun for the whole family, it was actually created to give Dundas County residents an opportunity to speak directly with agencies and businesses about the services, resources, and products available. This year, there are several new agency booths, including WDMH Foundation, Social Support Services, Seaway Valley Community Health Centre, as well as new businesses with Epicure and Tocara products.

“Thanks to our sponsors — Antonella Holmes, Brennan Law, Community Living Dundas County, Jason Firlotte, and O’Farrell Financial — we were able to make this event free to attend this year,” Linking Hands coordinator Sandy Casselman said. “Despite back-to-back snowstorms in 2017 and 2018, this event saw an average of 250 people attending. With the forecast looking clear for this year, we’re hoping to see those numbers increase.”
