Dear Editor,
Just a brief note of thanks to Jason Byvelds for his letter of last week referring to a “lecture” on science and climate change in an earlier edition of the Times by Kelvin Hodges.
In particular, I find this quote telling: “…not all of us have the luxury of just pretending that science is on our side for a populist political movement or to “green wash” our choices.” Indeed! A timely point and a point well made. A point which in its general tone could and should be applied more generally. For an interesting article on the nature of scientific consensus, have a look at an article at this URL: https://theness.com/neurologicablog/index.php/scientific-consensus/
Thank you again Mr. Byvelds.
