This coming weekend KDHA would have celebrated the 60th anniversary of Hey Day! Due to covid we will not be physically able to celebrate together, but that should not stop any of us from personally celebrating all the amazing efforts of each and every one of the dedicated volunteers.
Year after year volunteers of every age would show up to donate their time and energy to this amazing fundraiser for the KHD Auxiliary.
Hey Day, the largest indoor yard sale in this region, is the major fundraiser for the KDHA. Over the last 60 years, over 12000 volunteers have come together to do their part to set up Hey Day for the annual on slot of treasure seekers, bargain hunters and collectors. Over the last 60 years, Hey Day has raised over onemillion dollars, which the Auxiliary has donated to the KDH. The money raised by KDHA through many fundraising events is donated annually to the hospital to be used to enhance the patient experience. It is used to buy much needed equipment that the hospital otherwise would not be able to fund.
Personally I am going to miss the incredible coming together that would have happened this week, in our community. I will miss the long days, the thousands of “steps”, the hundreds of cars lined up to donate articles for us to sell, the endless sorting and setting up, the Friday night lineup for opening, the smiles and the laughter, but most of all I will miss all of you, the volunteers and local business partners who have made Hey Day what it is today. We hope we see you all again next year for yet another incredible and rewarding event. Hey Day 2021, June 11 and 12th.
