Last Friday, local resident Kirstan Bennet, Vice President of Zone 11 of the Grenville Federation of Agriculture (GFA), presented a cheque for $2,000 to Mike Blais on behalf of the Knights of Columbus, to help with their annual food drive. Grenville Federation of Agriculture represents the voice of agriculture in the local community and advocates on behalf of farm families in Grenville on local agricultural issues. The GFA are long-time supporters of food banks in the area, and they have a different way of raising the money they donate. GFA have a tract of 100 acres, where they grow beans or corn and, from their earnings, a percentage of this is donated to Food Banks in the area. Harvex and Pioneer Gardens donate the seeds or fertilizer to the GFA. Their next donation will be in March, again all donations go towards food banks.
