Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is partnering with the Ontario Woodlot Association (OWA) and landowners who are completing a Managed Forest Plan on their property, through the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP), and who are also interested in wetland conservation. Ducks Unlimited has 80 years of experience of working with both public and private landowners. They can help you save on your Managed Forest Plan while conserving one of our most important natural resources: wetlands.
DUC will provide a 40% reimbursement (up to $600) to landowners who complete a Forest Management Plan with a Managed Forest Plan approver.
To be eligible, landowners must:
• complete a Managed Forest Plan through MFTIP with a Managed Forest Plan Approver
• have an existing wetland (minimum five acres/two hectares identified in their Managed Forest Plan) that provides waterfowl habitat.
• be located in one of the DUC/MFTIP pilot project eligible areas, which includes all of eastern Ontario
• commit to conserving wetland habitat by signing a DUC conservation agreement
Ontario wetlands provide critical habitat for waterfowl and wildlife, including species at risk. Wetlands also help clean our air and water, control flooding, mitigate the effects of climate change and foster healthy communities.
