Celebrating decades of bridal gowns & engaging in High Tea

by Teresa Harrison

Mark your calendars for our very special upcoming social event! The Kemptville District Hospital Auxiliary is hosting an afternoon that will begin with a show featuring bridal fashions, dating from the 1940’s to the present, followed by a high tea. This special event will be taking place at St. John’s United Church, 400 Prescott Street, Kemptville on Sunday, September 23, and will run from 1:30 to 4 pm.

As each gown is modelled, interesting details related to it will be shared. The story might be information about the bride, or, comments on the historic style and tailoring involved in the construction of the gown. And not just the models get to dress up – this is an opportunity for you to wear your favourite bridesmaid dress, or mother of the bride/groom outfit.

Following the vintage fashion show, high tea will be served in the Church Hall. In addition to tea and scones, sandwiches and dessert squares, there will be door prizes, raffles and games of chance. A special auction will also take place, so bring along some cash or your cheque book.

Please plan to be there in time to be seated before the show begins at 1:30 pm. Members of the North Grenville Fire Service, in dress uniform, will be there to usher guests to their seats; and, as an additional treat, each guest will be given a unique memento of the event as they arrive.

Tickets, at $20 each, may be purchased from the gift shop at Kemptville District Hospital or by calling Linda at 613-258-4581. For more information email carnegie@cogeco.ca
