Event instigator Riley McShane sits amid the mountain of bottles collected last Saturday in support of Michelle Brazeau and her family. The response for the community was overwhelming. The bottle drive and bake sale (which sold a plethora of purple-themed baked goods) raised a grand total of $6500. The event was scheduled to run until 3:00pm but with so many donations volunteers were still piling cases of empty bottles into cars and trucks until well after dark.

A huge thank you goes out to North Grenville and its surrounding area. Not only for the individuals who dropped off bottles but also for the incredible support of local businesses such as the Brigadoon Restaurant, the Branch Restaurant, the Kemptville Family Restaurant and Salamanders, all of whom had been saving their empty bottles since they heard about the drive.
The family would also like to thank Business Strategies, Bulk Barn, and Oxford-on-Rideau Public School as well as the Beer Store for their patience and help. According to them this was the biggest bottle drive they have ever seen in North Grenville.
